- Large choir
- Small ensembles
- A cappella
- Music Theory
- Vocal Anatomy
- Diction
- Musical games
About the Program
This two-week program focuses on different topics for each week. The first week is dedicated to ‘traditional’ choral works with a concert at the end of the first week. The second week focuses on choral works from staged productions – musicals, operas, etc. That program will also feature a final concert. You may choose to do the full program or only one of the two weeks.
Small ensembles allow us to give individual attention to your child’s vocal development.
In the large ensemble, the campers discover the joys of making great music together. Campers will learn complex rhythms and harmonies, as they have with past pieces like “Siyahamba”, a South African hymn, and movements from Benjamin Britten’s “Friday Afternoons”.
Activities from previous years have included a guided tour through the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There, the campers learned about the relationships between art, culture, and music. Campers have relaxed and stretched with “Singer’s Yoga”, ready to make great music afterwards! Puppet shows have been created and performed to help convey stories through music such as “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and “Der Erlkönig”.
