About the Program
Campers will take part in a robust program of master classes, opera history seminars, diction, theory, anatomy, and staging/blocking sessions.
Repertoire runs the gamut from great classics (such as Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas) to lighthearted works like Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore and the modern silliness of Peter Schickele’s The Stoned Guest.
Repertory assignments are based on ability levels and voice ranges. Students will work in small groups and receive individual vocal coaching for their pieces. The final week is dedicated to dress rehearsals and staging.
The camp ends with a final performance, allowing students to showcase their prepared scenes from operas and operettas for friends and family.
When: July 19–30, 2021
Our 2021 camps will be exclusively in-person if we determine that to be safe according to local and national guidelines at the time. If not, they will be conducted virtually via Zoom at a reduced scale. See below for pricing details.
In-Person Camp: 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
Virtual Camp: 12pm to 3pm, Monday through Friday.
